George W. Bush's Powerful Message of Hope During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Former President George W. Bush on Saturday tweeted a video encouraging Americans to be their best selves during the coronavirus pandemic.

"We serve our neighbor by separating from them," Bush said in the video. "We cannot allow physical separation to become emotional isolation. This requires us to not only be compassionate but creative in our outreach."

He added, "Let us remember empathy and simple kindness are essential, powerful tools of national recovery. Even at an appropriate social distance, we can find the way to be present in the lives of others. ... In the final analysis, we are not partisan combatants. We're human beings, equally vulnerable and equally wonderful in the sight of God."

Former US President George Bush Calls for Another War in Iraq

SUNDAY EXPRESS: GEORGE W Bush is calling for US troops to wage another ground war in Iraq to defeat Islamic State militants.

Despite acknowledging that the 2003 invasion of the country was his “biggest regret”, the former president has again insisted the solution to Islamic extremism in the Middle East is “boots on the ground”.

Mr Bush took the US to war in two separate conflicts over his eight-year presidency – first in Afghanistan in 2001 and then in Iraq two years later.

The Iraq invasion was widely condemned at the time as being ill-thought out – and it resulted in a huge cost both financially and in human lives.

But in an interview with an Israeli magazine, he appeared once again to be on the warpath.
>br /> Asked about how the US should tackle ISIS, he said: “My position was that you need to have boots on the ground." » | Tom Batchelor | Sunday, June 14, 2015

US Report Claiming Saudi Arabia Financed 9/11 Attack 'Redacted by Bush'

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: A redacted Senate report accuses Saudi Arabia of financing the September 2001 terrorist attacks, an American senator says

An American senator has claimed that a secret official report blaming Saudi Arabia for financing the 9/11 attacks was redacted by George W Bush.

Bob Graham, former chairman of the US Senate Intelligence Committee, said that the report shows Saudi Arabia was the "principle financier" of the attacks. Fifteen of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, but previous investigations failed to find a link between the country and the terrorist attack, which killed 2,996 people.

Mr Graham told The Times that a 28-page chapter of the 2002 Senate report, entitled Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 2001, had been withheld to protect the country. Now retired, he is campaigning for its release. » | Harriet Alexander | Friday, June 05, 2015

George W. Bush Bashes Obama on Middle East

BLOOMBERG VIEW: In a closed-door meeting with Jewish donors on Saturday night, former President George W. Bush delivered his harshest public criticisms to date against his successor on foreign policy, saying that President Barack Obama is being naïve about Iran and the pending nuclear deal and losing the war against the Islamic State.

One attendee at the Republican Jewish Coalition session, held at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas with owner Sheldon Adelson in attendance, transcribed large portions of Bush’s remarks. The former president, who rarely ever criticizes Obama in public, at first remarked that the idea of re-entering the political arena was something he didn’t want to do. He then proceeded to explain why Obama, in his view, was placing the U.S. in "retreat" around the world. He also said Obama was misreading Iran’s intentions while relaxing sanctions on Tehran too easily.

According to the attendee's transcription, Bush noted that Iran has a new president, Hassan Rouhani. “He's smooth," Bush said. "And you’ve got to ask yourself, is there a new policy or did they just change the spokesman?”

Bush said that Obama’s plan to lift sanctions on Iran with a promise that they could snap back in place at any time was not plausible. He also said the deal would be bad for American national security in the long term: “You think the Middle East is chaotic now? Imagine what it looks like for our grandchildren. That’s how Americans should view the deal.” » | Josh Rogin | Sunday, April 26, 2015

Rick Santorum: Obama and Bush Have 'Given All Muslims A Pass'

ABC NEWS: Former Republican senator and presidential candidate Rick Santorum sharply criticized President Obama’s management of conflict in the Middle East today, saying both Obama and President George W. Bush have “given all Muslims a pass” by refusing to connect radical militant activity to the faith itself.

Speaking at Liberty University’s convocation, Santorum, a possible 2016 presidential candidate who now runs a Christian film studio, said Presidents Bush and Obama have “identified the enemy by what they do, not who they are and what they want to accomplish.”

“I’m not saying all Muslims are terrorists, but we have an obligation to face the truth about who the enemy is and what they want to accomplish,” Santorum said. » | Benjamin Siegel | Monday, November 10, 2014

'Iraq Chaos Is Tony Blair’s Legacy’: Intervention by Ex-PM in 2003 Destabilised the Country and Left It Open to Extremism, Says Home Office Minister

MAIL ONLINE: Government 'rules out' new Iraqi campaign despite major Jihadist threat / Al Qaeda militants have seized large areas of northern Iraq / Norman Baker said Iraq was stable under Saddam 'in a vile sort of way'

The disaster unfolding in Iraq was branded ‘Tony Blair’s legacy’ last night as Britain ruled out military intervention.

Though Islamist extremists are threatening to seize Baghdad, Foreign Secretary William Hague said Britain was ‘not contemplating’ any form of action, and Nato chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen said there was no role for the alliance.

US President Barack Obama insisted his country had an interest in stopping jihadists taking control and said he was looking at ‘all options’, including drone strikes.

Iraq is facing a return to its darkest days after al Qaeda-linked militants seized a huge swathe of the Iraq’s northern region and vowed to press on to the capital. Read on and comment » | James Chapman | Thursday, June 12, 2014

George W. Bush to Raise Money for Group That Converts Jews to Christianity

YNET NEWS: Former president to host fundraiser for Messianic Jewish Bible Institute, which trains people to 'provoke Jewish people, save them,' in order to bring about second coming of Jesus

Next week, former President George W. Bush is scheduled to keynote a fundraiser in Irving, Texas, for the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute, a group that trains people in the United States, Israel, and around the world to convince Jews to accept Jesus as the Messiah, the American magazine Mother Jones reported.

The organization's goal: to "restore" Israel and the Jews and bring about about the second coming of Christ. Based in Dallas, the Institute claims that it acts like the Apostle Paul in helping to "educate Christians in their role to provoke the Jewish people to jealousy and thus save some of them (Romans 11:11-14)."

According to the article, written by Sarah Posner, Messianic Jews have long been controversial for Jews of all major denominations, who object to their proselytizing efforts and their message that salvation by Jesus is consistent with Jewish theology. » | Ynet News | Thursday, November 07, 2013
